Lacuna is a term used to label a gap, a missing part, or an unfilled space, most commonly in manuscripts. In a broader context, it also represents an absence in memory, experience, or understanding of personal and/or cultural narratives.
Drawing upon inherited materials such as family photographs, letters, memoirs, and digital documents, I use the rhetoric of painting to investigat extremes, banalities, emotions, losses, and curiosities. I both mourn and celebrate ancestors of the past, occurrences in the present, and events yet to come, blurring the lines between subjective reality, memory, and dreamscape.
