Casita is a memory of a childhood fantasy. Through painting and installation, a specific time and location is recreated within a domestic setting using fragmented bodies and abstracted, dreamlike scapes to convey a sense of nostalgia for a place that no longer exists.
"I grew up on the seventh floor of a building in Washington, DC. I slept among the plants in my mother's garden in our living room, which became my Eden above the city. Staring out the window through the leaves, I imagined my body floating through the sky and over the city. I would caress the plants, who were my friends, and whisper, I miss the ground, too."
