The Middle Distance
10/5/24
SITE at Goat Farm, Atlanta, GA
The Middle Distance is a painting installation that highlights landscapes and flora as they exist within the urban. This project is a site-specific iteration of this concept in my practice, focusing on the human’s role within, around, and as part of nature. The atypically placed viewfinder, used to view a pastoral, figurative oil painting, addresses art historical themes of voyeurism, the fantastical, accessibility, gentrification and urban development, and environmental concerns. This project is supported in-part through an investment from IDEA CAPITAL, a community-based pool of funds created by and for the Atlanta arts community.
